Try what3words app

Listening to Liberal Drivel on NPR and heard about an interesting app.

what3words is a free app that intends to simplify navigation and locations. They divided the world into 3 meter squares (57 TRILLION of them!) and figured out that there are enough common words that each unique 3 meter square can be identified with just 3 words.

I hereby claim to be the first Defender Source user to install what3words.

Current location: manage.trying.nuns

It is pretty cool and very useful.

Camps.bolts.spare was the kitchen in our flat in London, which we moved from last November.

Just south of Regent's Park?

I'm a pilot working international flights. We have an extensive procedure for verifying our routes using 15 digit lat/log waypoints and a few flight crews screw it up every year. Three meter square accuracy is plenty good for our enroute phase. I wonder if what3words might be less error prone?

Some of the word combinations are funny. This one is in my yard in Guam.
