[QUOTE=rover26c;701852]Cibie E code with 70/65 Osram

These would require a new harness with a relay in a old Defender (86) though correct? I believe they draw a lot of amps where the LED's do not and do not require new wiring with a relay.

It looks like they need to be aimed a little higher.

They're expensive, but I'm seriously considering the Hella 90mm Bi-Xenons. They're SAE/DOT approved.

I have the truck-lites. They're okay, but I'm not as impressed as I'd hoped to be.
Did that dude ever reply with what brand they were?

After a ton more research and reading a lot of LED posts on Jeep forums (there are way more of them than us and most are not complete tools... :-) ) I have decided on the 27270C's from Truck-lite. Consensus of those that had both was that to do over again, the slight increase in light from a real-world experience was not justified in the higher price. JW's are also said to receive a lot of flashes from oncoming traffic as if their high beams are on where the TL's don't (again, from those that have used both in the same vehicles). So all in all I think the best choice is the TL's for me at this time. Thanks for all the comments and articles. Still silly I'll be spending over $300 on head lights, but the stock just aint cutting it and I don't want to mess the the harness.

The lowest price I've found is from Levine Auto (on ebay or their site) at $325 shipped/pair. If anyone knows a less expensive channel, I am all ears!

H4 housings with the newest LED bulbs could be a good option too, maybe better. Philips came out with a new H4 LED bulb with LEDs aligned the same as the filaments in a halogen H4 bulb, so light is correctly focused. It has a little shield for the low beam LEDs too that reduces glare for oncoming drivers. They're pretty expensive though ($269.99 @ xenondepot.com). But, a Chinese company, CN360, took the design and improved it. It has the same Philips chip and they added an additional LED on each side for both the high and low beam, plus you can rotate the bulb to adjust the beam. It has great reviews so far. It's available in black (from jdmastar.com for $99.99) or silver (on eBay for $67.50 (2pcs 50W 8000LM Philips LED Headlights Kit H4 Hi Lo Beam Bulbs 6500K High Power | eBay).

Great except in snow country.

Thats good to hear. I plan to buy soon but am seeing what some of the other options including the H4 replacement bulbs. I am also reaching out to Truck-Lite and others to see when their next gen is coming out (if such a thing is on their drawing board).
