Transport within VA
So my dad gave up looking for a cheap FC101 and bought a Unimog. Pretty cool and he loves to wrench, so by the look of things, he has plenty to keep him busy:
https://fredericksburg.craigslist.or...501213597.html
Anyway, he asked me to facilitate getting it from Fredricksburg, VA down to Norfolk, VA.
Pretty sure it doesn't run well enough to make it on its own power.
I am looking for suggestions on how to get it down here relatively inexpensively. Any help or leads would be appreciated.

Pulling a driveshaft on these is not as easy because of the torque tube.

Thanks for the advice. I’ll look at uship. Towing a Unimog with a Ford Escape is probably not a good idea.

Thanks Adam, if I end up going up there to supervise I’ll give you a call. Maybe we could do lunch or a beer.

I would drive it. get this https://expedition-imports.com/0000715301RK, a fresh battery, a good set of tools and a can of cleaning fluid (the dip can at the auto parts place) and go up there and get the damn thing. You want to wrench? Then wrench FFS. Take 17 the whole way and you'll be good.

Thanks a lot Will. Passing on to my Dad. Apparently it isn’t a quick fix type of thing to get it running.

To be honest, I've lost count.
Was underneath it last week trying to figure out where the diesel leak was coming from (tdi injection pump head) and noticed his oil filter in my hand writing ( I use a yellow paint pen on oil filters) had the date 10/28/2015 on it. He swears there haven't been many miles put on it so I decided to lock the pump pulley and remove the IP and we wont be doing a timing belt this round. It will be getting a clucth disk etc although the problem was he'd pushed through the pivot arm in the bell housing.
I went off on his Bud Light swilling ass pretty hard...... although its been Corona Light lately
There is a correlation to why this truck is always coming back here, hard use and lack of love.

UNIMOG showed up yesterday thanks to wills referral. While it is cool, it is in rough shape. Made my Defender look like a Rolls Royce in comparison. My dad has his work cut out for him!
