This looks like a great plan for my 50th anniversary year trip. If you google it, you can find a lot of information on this: http://www.transamtrail.com

We can't even get you to Happy Hour. Happy Hour. That's once a month for a couple hours. This is a month+ 24hours/day .

Wasn't there a couple on expedition portal that did this?
Really wish they could have shown some of the tight places they went through.
I too have been looking into both TAT and Shadow of the Rockies, just figured the brakes on the S3 would fade on the TAT as read there are some very steep grades to deal with.

Pretty good thread on this trip on ExpO. A member of the site team was actually with them for a portion of the journey (his reflections on it are on page 20). Bottom line; no major issues with the vehicles except for tires. Given that they were on the 19's that's not unusual and quite frankly I would say tires are the most important & vulnerable aspect anyway so it's the be expected.

http://www.expeditionportal.com/foru...e-helm!/page20

Personally I'm glad LRNA did it; for all that they are at least they are still doing stuff like this on occasion. What I would say about doing it in the future is that and LR3 or LR4 is the perfect vehicle for it, perhaps with some minor changes like 18" wheels, perhaps 2 spare tires, IID tool...and a gas card.

Quite true...but I'd also suggest that this is not going to RC or the Cove for the weekend...it's an entirely different focus and type of event. Not a casual endeavor by any stretch.

Exactly my point. Wheeling a truck at RC or Cove is one thing and for whatever the reason are, it's not my cup of tea.

This, on the other hand it's a completely different experience.

Charles and I have been talking about it for a long time.

We don't need to do the complete trail. We can do 1 week, 2 weeks, what ever we come up to.

Goose has done the trail back when the dinosaurs were roaming the earth... He's a good source of information.
