Touring the Maine coast

After 4 years of driving around the challenging roads of south Florida (challenging being the tourists and elderly) I finally got to drive my Defender on some winding, hilly roads along the coast of southern Maine.
Other than a parking garage ramp, my D-90 hadn't seen anything in the way of a hill in 4 years.

Really fun driving with the door tops off, the heater cranked and enjoying the amazing vistas along the coast. I know we and the D-90 are going to love Maine for the next year.

Hey Don, are you living up there now? Had enough of Florida? Don't blame you one bit. Will be up there in a couple of weeks, will you be around? What town are you in?

Acadia National park is a nice easy ride in the summer with the top off.

You can even go into Bar Harbor for some ice cream.

I bought my first Rover in Searsmont from an old Russian named Nick Derevitski. Used the 109 as a farm truck on my little spread. Never thought of off-roading her much. Sometimes when I was out and about, I'd just turn down a green lane that followed a stone wall, and explore a little. Miss those days...

Enjoy.

(NVTR on the 17th, defending our title again. There are going to be 4 Hummers competing this year and a pair of nasty Toys out of Arizona.)

Hey Ken Yep up here for at least a year Kittery Point, Me we rented out our house in Delray Beach for the next year and since we had planned on being here all summer anyway we said what the hell. My commute to the Caribbean is a little further, but I hate Florida especially in the summer. sent you a PM

John I will look you up for sure when the weather improves and I venture up your way.. I think you are north of Portland right?

Acadia is on our list for this summer. I have never been north of Camden so we are looking forward to that trip.

Take the time to drive on up the Maine and New Brunswick coast to Nova Scotia, continue north to the north end of Newfoundland, take the ferry over to Labrador, and drive back south. Spend a couple days at Gros Morne in N.F. Super trip, and so close.

Stop off at the Fairmont Algonquin while you're at it.
