Top Gear

...If I were making the plans, I would connive to end Top Gear's long run by having the "orangutan" get in a "row" with one of the "pro-doocers", cutting the season short, forcing a long season to crunch back down to normal length with one compressed episode, where "on that bomb-shell" we hear that this is the last episode, ever.

I would love to know what the real story is? Jeremy must have WAY crossed the line for them to bag the season.

Could be a ploy to up ratings. People like rebels and Jeremy said or did something off kilter, they could be drawing more attention to the show by shorting the season.

More attention? Trust me I think it already has the attention it needs and more. Apparently the Fracas was over a Steak that Jeremy wanted and instead was brought a selection of cold meats. Whether the punch met face we will have to wait and see. the news in the UK is full of this. They love to pick on Clarkson. Most Newspapers hate him for some reason.

Given the revenue that Top Gear, and thus Clarkson, brings in for the BBC it will be interesting to see if this lasts-I can't see it.

Well it could be the BBC that loses Clarkson. If rumors are to be believed he is at the point of quitting the BBC. I am sure the Rupert Murdoch empire is waiting in the wings. and with more money. A similar thing happened with a another BBC personality called Johnathan Ross. He upped and left the BBC and ITV were waiting for him. He basically has the same show but on ITV. The same thing will happen but will Hammond and May follow him as there contracts are up for renewal that same as Clarkson's.

While clarkson is the most notable on the show I would like to think that the others will follow...they are the automotive 3 stooges...sure, you have the ringleader, but usually no good as a standalone. And according to the guiness world book of records top gear is the largest watched factual auto show in the world.. If I recall they had a falling out at the beginning of this season and rumours were flying that clarkson wasn't going to renew from the beginning..I read once what his take is from the show and it's quite staggering..

Yes, it is not only the biggest auto show, it is the biggest TV show in the world, period.

The show will either stop, or it will have to get new presenters and it will change -- losing it's top status, even if it stays popular.

The end of the three of them really is the end of the show, even if it airs in some other capacity in the future.

The fact is that Clarkson makes the show, both on screen and behind the scenes. They work as a team, he is the core. Without him it would not be popular.

David Cameron intervenes for Top Gear's Jeremy Clarkson after suspension | Daily Mail Online

Quote:
Ryan Thomas, 27, told MailOnline he was working on the set during filming in Newcastle and watched the incident unfold.

He said: ‘I was about 50 yards away and I heard raised voices, a bit of a fracas. There was a bit of a scuffle and I heard some shouting about some sausage rolls.

‘There were a few bits of choice language.

‘Jeremy Clarkson told somebody to “f***off” and people were saying “calm down”, but that was it really.

‘It was a bit like a fight on the bus or in the pub, the same sort of circumstances. It was a melee, there were no clear punches landed. They were surrounded by people. It was a bit of pushing and shoving.

‘Still, I’ve never seen anything like it before. Not to this point.’

Mr Thomas said he didn’t see ‘any punches being thrown’ but said some of the production crew were forced to break up the incident.

He said: ‘He [Clarkson] was pulled away. He looked angry. They took him off set. James May and Richard Hammond were still there and they looked a bit bemused.

‘He [Oisin] looked a bit flabbergasted. He left with another couple members of set.
‘It was over before it started really.’
If this is true, the people in charge of the BBC are complete morons.

The BBC knows how to make great shows, but the crowd of people between the lawyers and the producers are probably the ones who put the state in state run TV.

And not just lost revenue. Cancelling the shows this late apparently means they must compensate other broadcasters.

First rule of production…. Don't F@#K with your producers… ask Charlie Sheen, Katherine Heigl etc etc. list goes on and on.. Watch them announce Ewan Mcgregor or someone of that caliber as his replacement and in 6 months people will be saying "Jeremy who?"

I doubt it. It will die and be crap like US and Australia Top Gear.

Clarkson will just start up a new show on another network.

he is a liability… in order to do another show anywhere it will need to be bonded and insured.. plenty of actors have found them selves uninsurable at different points in their career and its the kiss of death.. some like Robert Downey Jr have managed to overcome it but its a process…. Don't get my wrong I agree with everyone he makes the show and I enjoy watching him but ultimately the bean counters and lawyers won't be willing to take the risk he will do something stupid and they all become liable.

He is not just an actor on the show. He makes it happen behind the scenes as well. He used to own the majority share of the show. It is currently the most watched factual TV show in the world.

Sounds like Jeremy needs his own assistant like the Fast and Loud guys beer assistant. Problem solved.
