TombRaider, Tears of the Dragon (a fan movie)

If you have been following the making of this tribute movie, it will be screened Feb 28 in Hollywood, CA.

The movie stars Cecilia, my 1966 Series IIA Land Rover, oh, and a sexy former co-worker that resembles the character from the games.

If you're interested in viewing a screening of this tribute movie put on by Lara Croft fans, send an email to rsvp@tearsofthedragon.org

Tell them Cecilia the Land Rover sent you.

I'll be there along with Cecilia if she's ready (she's undergoing a frame swap). It would be cool to have a lineup of Land Rovers parked at the event. And, AFAIK, it's free, they can't charge for legal reasons.

The Photo Gallery pages 5a,5b and 5c has pics of us when we did the shooting in the California desert.

I don't see your Land Rover mention in the cast & crew list. Bummer.

Look under the Credits link:

LOL, they have me listed as "Offroad Specialist". I only drove there, let them borrow the keys and winched Cecilia with my Disco during a climb from a wash.

Even better -- Cecilia is listed under the 'Other Crew' section of the Credits list. Very cool. Sign me up for a copy of the DVD.

Yeah, forgot about that link.

I'm going to be asking for some of these movie posters, even the banner's cool

You can receive a DVD by coordinating a screening at any venue. I don't know if that includes your home.

I'm going to show a screening on our next trip to Salton Sea (Truckhaven) in the California desert, with a projector and a big screen!

BTW, Chris, I will introduce you to her if you make it to the screening.

That is so great! I love the prominent display of the Land Rover on the poster.

It reminds me of a few decades ago when a friend and I were 4-wheeling in his Series 88 and my 109 down in Baja Calfornia and came across a movie set out in the middle of nowhere. My friend had decorated his 88 with a small decal he thought was from a British fighter (you know, the multi-colored rings) behind the front wheel wells. I had been making fun of him because the decal was actually French, which is almost the same as the British, just different color order in the rings. Well, as fate would have it the movie set was for the opening scene from a movie called "Close Eno****ers of The Third Kind" by the young Steven Spielberg. They needed a vehicle for the French scientist to drive into the scene with the TBF torpedo bombers out in the desert - - and out of nowhere here came a truck with a French insignia on it. So we waited around for hours for my buddy's 88 to have a 5 second scene in a major movie, all possible because of his ignorance on military insignias. Neither he nor his truck got any screen credit though.

Cecilia's movie debut is tomorrow!!

As I imagined, Cecilia is not ready so I'll take the D90. Who else is planning on going? Lara (Val)
mentioned about a half dozen Rover people RSVP'd. If you haven't already, let me know and I might be able to get your name on the list. Or just reply as soon as possible.

Pics will be posted on http://www.roverpalooza.com/pics by Wednesday night.

Chris, I'll find out about the Premier in Austin...

The Premiere was fun. The highlight of the night for me was obviously seeing Cecilia on the (kinda) big screen. Abel and I sat up front so we were lucky enough to watch Lara (Valerie)'s bouncy personality.

Thanks, Abel, for posting the pics! I'll fix the portrait pics tonight.

Chris and Sandro,

If there isn't a date for one in your cities, it's because a fan in your city is trying to nail a place/time. It is completely fan/volunteer-based which makes it even more difficult to plan. Of course, I think she'll send you a DVD if you volunteer to host or plan a screening.

Would hosting a showing for the local Land Rover club count?

Sandro,

Sorry, it took a while to get a hold of her. She took a break after the premiere. A screening of her movie at a Land Rover club counts. All she asks in return is a chance to post it on her site, in other words, a heads up with time & place. Lastly, and this is my speculation, it must be free to all so as to not get her in trouble.

Personally, I want to screen it in the middle of the California desert for 20 of my Rover buds and that was OK. She may even attend that as well.

Send in your DVD requests along with a planned date & location of the screening.

This update is long overdue, Valerie has posted the fan film on the site. Cecilia comes out in the first part, you can't miss her. We filmed for about two hours, but only got 20 seconds of actual screen time. Remember, it's a fan film, so don't expect Oscar winning performance, just some people having fun.

I also posted a few vids I took during the shooting. Click on videos from my MySpace page.

Saw Close encounters the other day and saw your buddie's Series truck, nice!
