Funny story, a couple weekends ago I was at a British car show with a friend who does rally's around the world, and he mentioned a yellow Pinz and I pulled out a picture from Tennessee Adventure Rally in 04 and sure enough its his rally partner. Same Pinz as the one pictured above.

Thats neat, Robert.
I've seen 2 Pinz 6x6's at MAR before the "no non-Rover" rules went into effect.
That yellow was only there a day, I think.

Then this one from MAR '02 that did some Croatia off-road Rally way back...

Troy Smith= cover shot on the old LRM
He usually has a verrry clean 90.

This was a good trail ride.
Troy helped me change my alternator on the trail when it died midway(I had a spare).
I couldn't get the pulley loosened but he had an impact and BAM!
Only slowed us down a 1/2 hour or so...

Jamie -

The camera angle, color and chains remind me of (another) one I let get away.

- Frank

P.S. Quite the story behind that particular Rover... as many of the well-known people in the Land Rover world have a connection to it. The Rover spent its entire life on an estate called "Shelburne Farms" here in VT (google the images - well worth it!) until about 2002 or 2003 - except I think it took at least one, if not two, trips down to Mexico. It was a vehicle Mark Letorney used to service before Rovers North, when he had a "have Rover, will travel" business. It then went to Lanny Clark (you can see a ribbon on the back - his daughter used it in her wedding), then to me. I enjoyed it but needed to pay off the sugar house you see in the background that I built. (the chains are Mike Hopwood's - the ones used on the only wheeled ascent in the winter by vehicle to the top of Mount Washington). It then went to Jeff Aronson over in Vinalhaven. Wonder where it is today... perhaps the best patina of any Rover I've seen in person! Man, do I miss that one.

Winter ascent of Mount Mansfield circa 1996

Speaking of "winter ascent," those actual chains, and Lanny Clark, Mark Letorney, Mike Hopwood and I... look what's on the back cover of this month's Rovers North magazine!

How the hell did those guys manage to get clearance to drive up Toll Road at Mansfield during winter?

Or was this from going thru the Notch?
