The first Land Rover I owned in the USA- a '96 SD. Manual transmission, which was nice. Loved it but the build quality was TERRIBLE.

Ha! That's Lav's truck. The driver is a friend of mine and had never driven off road or been to MAR and to his credit was hung over pretty bad from the night before. I'm in the passenger seat getting soaking wet.

Might have been 04 or maybe 05. Not likely 06.

Holy crap you're right! I even pulled up the pick when Nomar posted it, but didn't realize it...sure enough there's the "Land Rover South Africa Club" in the lower left of the windscreen. Unreal!

Too funny, Clay!
And by screw-up, I didnt really mean to imply your buddy was a screw-up, just that camping on the island in a hurricane quickly got screwed up!
I think you're right--- I think this was '05.
Did this truck end up getting flatbedded home after this or was it the other one?
I know it was a white ST that got drowned- pretty sure it was a wet ECU.

No worries. It was a crazy time. I thought for sure, while we were floating along out of control, we were going over. Once we took on enough water things settled down. He actually made it out ok and drove home to DC the next day. That truck has had 9 lives, I swear. .

Well, I've used at least a couple of them! Like...5 minutes into owning it when it blew the oil cooler line within 2-miles of purchase point. However, I saved her ass then and she's taken care of me from then on out! Its like when a neglected pet finds a good home...it sort of "knows" it's well loved .

Very true. Love Paul like a brother but a model Rover owner he is not. We would do events like Big Dogs and come home filthy muddy. He'd drive to his GF's apartment complex in Arlington, park in a Visitors spot and let Mother Natures car wash do its thing. When he'd move it two months later it left a perfect rectangle ring of mud with volleyball clumps of mud everywhere. It was hilarious. That complex hated that truck. I should give you the address so you don't park near it. It might get towed.

Pretty damn gorgeous LWB! What color is that? Looks Ardennes, but I'm guessing it's BRG or Beluga? Either way, it's beautiful! Hope you're still enjoying it.

I think this was ROTR 2009, Doug dropped Shrek at my house Wednesday night, ( I Never drove it before ) and 6:00 am Thursday I went to Rovers On The Rocks.

The gal on the Bonet is Tara, the Lucky8 model.

Since her bottom was cute, I gracefully allowed her to sit on Shrek

Was one of the coldest ROTR ever, all the tough guys camped, and some of us stayed at the Hotel ( they called us wimps ) , well at 11:00 , the Front Desk of the Hotel was like Grand Central Station, many of the " Tough Guys " were looking for a room

ROAV Spring Rally 2005

This is sort of an obscure photo. It is a leaky front diff from a D-90. It struck a rock on Potts Mountain Trail back at the 2005 ROAV Spring Rally. I really did not know the owner of the truck at that the time - but I think he is a poster on this thread. I will let him self identify if I am right (then again - that was 11 years ago and I may be remembering wrong).

Shrek - Pre Gustavo

Referencing back to "Shrek" - here it is in 2009 without the pretty girl sitting on the bonnet.

I have that same picture.
I think I also have one with a rag duct-taped over the hole...
