Thoughts on this Defender

This truck is pretty close to me, but I don't know much about MIL trucks or NA diesels in Defenders. Anything special to watch out for or consider?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1980-...item4152697e0e

Thanks.

Looks like it started its life as a series truck and was "restored" with newer defender parts. This has been known to happen with a lot of 25+ year old vehicles.

If you want to go look at it I work in the highland park area, while I am not a Defender owner, I've got 8 years experience in Land Rover and would be happy to go along. I will say that defenders didn't make their appearance till 3 years later though.

Thanks for the offer, I might take you up on it. I am waiting on a few responses from the seller.

^^^^ 90s didn't arrive until 1983.

It does seem to have various bits of military stuff on it still.... the 6 way military light switch in the middle of the dash, along with its enclosure. the split "series" doors (a la NAS), the military spec roll hoop. he's also done the usual thing of getting a second roll hoop, turning it 180 degrees and mounting it at the "back" as a rear hoop, and making up some suitably sized cross bars instead of the thin galvanised stuff.

Registry
"Richard Moody, who is the owner of Rover Special Vehicles in Jamestown, RI"

Call him. As said above appears to be a later truck on a series identity if its titled as an 80.
Richard has done some trucks for government agency's and has some pretty cool latitude to bring things in.
