Thoughts on this 110 on ebay

I know ebay isn't the best but...

Been looking for a 110 for about 6 months now. Also, any import issues?

Thoughts?

Looks clean but you have to be careful about bringing a modified Defender into the States. There is a very long thread or two about this subject.

But whether you can get it into the USA due to the modifications including but not limited to the galvanized chassis is, I would say, very doubtful.

Any issues with import ? Have you done any homework/research ? No chance of this truck making it into the US with DOT's current mandate to US Customs regarding defenders. Unless of course like Bullis you are fortunate enough to get an idiot @ the point of entry. I wouldn't touch this one with a ten foot pole.

Reasons:
1)First thing Customs is supposed to do is decode the vin, this would tell them the truck was not built as a 5 door- body configuration modifications are not allowed/ considered vin tampering
2) Frame has been galvanized /this is considered vin tampering by dot
3) engine is not the one or even same type the truck was originally built with-tdi's aren't eligible for entry
4) seat are a newer modification-not allowed by dot
5) converted to left hand drive when originally built as rhd, again this is not permissible and is considered vin tampering

They only need one of these reasons to deny entry and snag the truck. Educate yourself before such an undertaking, ignorance of the law is no excuse and these agents will be extremely heavy handed with you. They approach everything with the assumption that you are trying to do something illegal/get over on them. That said a drive across entry doesn't give them the time to do things the way they normally would and mistakes are made such as in Bullis case. These are all things you can do once a truck has entered and are common modifications the world over but you cannot bring in a modified truck in the current environment. My advice would be to keep looking.

FYI- I have had an advance targeting customs officer say to me "We see you are active on the forums".
