Thoughts on Jeep Grand Cherokee WK2

I mean, besides the fact that it's not a rover. Considering as a replacement for my wife's car, or as a backup when the 110 is in the shop

Thoughts and/or experiences?

Mods, this can go to the mud pit as needed

Jk. The SRT looks awesome! Looks like a lot of fun and you'll go through a $h!t load of brakes ;-) I personally hate the shifters, but as long as it doesn't crap out on ya, they work. I always found myself in neutral if I wasn't looking at the selector. No real positive feel, ya know? Like a joystick.

It is a great SUV and reliability seems good. The v6 engine is so so. The running gear if you get the upgraded Quadratrac 2 is fantastic. So is the air suspension. The outside black plastic parts chalk out quickly. The bad is re-sale value. I guess since the spread between the least expensive model and the top of the line is so great. We had a Overland and the re-sale was horrible.

I looked at them as a replacement for my work vehicle, but out of the three people I've known who own or have owned, two had horrible experiences with reliability. My wife has veto'd it.

We have had a couple of them and the only thing that has gone wrong was a windshield washer motor. Other than that they never had to go to the dealer.

Bought a brand new one in 2012. Nicely appointed but had V6 which I found under powered. Performed really well in Colorado snow with quadratrac II. Besides the clean looks of it, it was not very functional for family with car seat. Sold it couple years later for just a few thousand less than I paid, so value held or I got lucky.

I test drove one of the diesel ones and was pleasantly surprised. The heated AND cooled seats were pretty nice.

They are small on the inside.

I just bought a 2015 Overland Diesel. I've been very happy with it so far. Its nice not having to fill up the tank a couple of times a week.
