Looks like an EME (Earth Moon Earth) array in transit maybe. That's some fun stuff. It doesn't get much cooler than hearing .-. -- .- come back from the moon after you flip the T/R switch...

My guess is that system detaches and will fit into his fanny-pack in about 10 minutes.

Maybe someone with good eyesight can pull his tag as it looks like his HAM handle, and we can ask him

Seems damn scary to me if that wasn't just a one off transit (scary enough if it was).

The guy lives in the Westover part of Arlington, near Lost Dog cafe. I may be out of line here, but I *think* that setup on a moving vehicle just might be illegal.

lol. No kidding - I just saw this car driving up Sudley Road in Manassas this afternoon while getting coffee at Starbucks.

BTW if my RF training doesn't fail me, the two long antennas are highly directional Yagis in the 6m band (seems a little long for 2m? Not sure...)

My guess is that this is really Ron Brown's truck, and that antenna serves two purposes: left side senses For Sale - Parts threads before they are created, and the right side jams anyone else from seeing that thread until he has licked what he needs from it.

This may be a completely valid question.

Then I'm stumped! I haven't a clue what use that could be on the highway... Post up a higher res shot and see if you can read his license plate.

Now I'm curious... I can see a 3 in there, which makes sense since you're in 3 land. See if you can read the plate in the original

If you want, I'll get the plate tomorrow, after I get a milkshake from Lost Dog.

I could get set-up again and call him I suppose.

Father and I used to play around with it a lot way back when.
