The trip that got me obsessed with Rovers... Fraser Island Australia

Hello All,
I figured this was the appropriate forum section for this post.

I was always a Jeep guy and admired Rovers from a distance, until I went to Fraser Island Australia in Jan 2005 (and again in Jan 2007 on part of my honeymoon). We lived out of a rented D110 5-door (I believe it was a 1996 300TDi in retrospect, based on the shift pattern it was an R380 trans. The rental included all of our camping and cooking gear too.

Here are some pics of the process of loading it on the ferry, driving on the island and coming home (and 2 other cool 4x4's I saw elsewhere in Australia, the white one @ the end is a CJ-10!!! VERY rare)

GO TO FRASER ISLAND

NICE! I was there in 1998 and rented a Holden "Jackaroo" diesel. (aka Isuzu Trooper here in the States)

NEAT place, very very cool.

Wifey and i spent 4.5 months traveling OZ and NZ for our honeymoon.

Nice!
So you know how beautiful that country is.

I TRIED to get that 110 stuck but its skinny 31 x 9" michelins wouldn't stop gripping the sand.
So much fun, despite being chased at one point by a pair of angry Dingoes...

Wifey and I explored all day, pretty cool when the Cessna landed on the beach in front of me while I was doing 45mph.

Yes! I did the same trip in 1997. We were ripping through the forrest up there, through creeks and then ended up on the beach where we actually got the 110 we were in airborne. After that I knew I need to get one of these trucks.

Is that place still crawling with Dingos?

NICE! Land down under. I was there in 2001 and spent 3 weeks with the relatives. Few weeks in Sydney and few days in Queensland. Can't wait to go back.

Love OZ. Been twice and can't wait to go again. Thanks for sharing.

I see that you're a big Star Wars fan. Is your avatar a Wookie or Ewok? I can't quite tell.

Haha,

Definitely a big star wars fan, but the icon is my Cairn Terrier out cold on the couch...

Yeah I went in 2004-5 (over New Years) with a friend of mine, Sydney, Brisbane, Fraser Island, Byron Bay, Melbourne, Great Ocean Road to Adelaide, back to Sydney. Then in 2006-2007 (again over New Years) on my Honeymoon almost the same trip. (except no great ocean road or Brissy).

I'll definitely go again, or maybe I can convince wifey to move there...

I went to Australia last February but didn't havr the time to hit Fraser. We spent to much time in Cannes instead. When my wife and I go back with out the kids we will make time to be on Fraser Island. I also want to see Melbourne since our last trip didn't take us there.
You spotted some nice trucks on your trips!
