hi chaps been reading the thread also amazing stuff I certainly would not have gone there, it has awoken memories of my trip in 07 that culminated in being prodded awake by a giunea army captain, however every interaction with the people we met from the kids to the police to the average pleb would always end with them asking for "un cadeau" or my favorite "un petit cadeau" it gets very wearing and sadly it colours the way you interact with the people you meet when you are waiting for them to ask for a gift or sometimes straight out for money.

sadly i have witnessed the cause first hand in morroco, last year on a track out of ait benhaddu i pulled over to let 2 toyota tour trucks pass we had about a dozen kids around us and i was struggling to chat with them in my crap french when they all ran to the toyota's as they got level with the kids the rear windows opened and pens and sweets were thrown out without them even stopping.
to say i was appalled is an understatement but it is now all to common.

J&F's journey is all the more amazing if you look up some of the recent horrific news on the bbc africa website
you guys are so lucky to live on such a large chunk of rock.

regards all

I think that if it's adventure and team building you're after, join the Army.

It's a novel thought, but not everyone who travels to foreign countries are interested in killing the people whose country they are visiting. Just saying...

I read it during lunch. I'm on page 39 at this point. Glad to see he's not done yet.

Yeah I have been following this and must admit I think I'd grow tired of the bribes fast - real fast. I don't think I could handle it the way they did either. Otherwise looks like it would be a great adventure.
