The Martian

So I read the book "The Martian" before going to see the movie as I always do. I had quite a few "pictures" in my mind about how the people looked, the HAB, the airlock and the rover. The people were kind of close other than the commander and the HAB and airlock was about what I thought. The first shot of the rover I literally laughed out loud. My mental book image was a 110 with a Sankey trailer. I think I have a problem.

Not a bad flick.

I was under ISAF in 05'-06' in an aviation task force, I still chuckle that we all had to wear an "I Suck At Flying" patch.

I read the book first also. I thought the movie aligned with the book pretty well. I didn't picture the lead character as Matt Damon when I read the book, but I thought Matt Damon did a pretty good job. Overall a pretty good movie.

I also found it a very good and entertaining movie. But perfect?

I am certain that most Hams wanted to shout at the screen: JUST BUILD AN ANTENNA!!!

Antennas aren't rocket science.

Overlander has low viewing requirements...if it doesn't have a Beagle in it it's grammy material!

Drove through the area where The Martian was filmed yesterday and caught this 110 near the entrance. The Bedouins do some pretty decent animal/off road excursions there.
