Singing hasn't worked for them since the 80's, so they started making cars? :-)

Pretty cool car,

Scott

It's definitely a sweet car with a price tag to match.

Tesla is based on the lotus chassis. Outstanding platform, though I shiver at what the weight of the batteries would do to the handling.

I heard they are making 100 of them in 2008, and they are already sold out!

It is based on Lotus Elise chassis, I believe. Much better than the Elan!

I heard the first run was sold out and then they offered a limited run that sold out again. from what I have seen they are an awesome car although it might be a different story once you have to find an outlet downtown to plug into

Just need to carry a really long extension cord, there should be enough room to carry that.

My concern...try finding a mechanic.

They add $8,000 to the purchase price if you don't live within 100 miles of their regional repair shops. They are only in NYC, LA and few other cities. It apparently covers any transportation costs related to repairs.

One of the owners of the Tesla(Marc) lives two houses down from me. I have seen these cars close up and they are pretty cool. Have not had a ride in one yet but I am going to have to flag him down the next time I see him driving one. I had know idea they cost that much but I do remember him saying they were sold out. Now if he would just build a 110 with enough power I would be a happy camper. Mike

The other more famous diesel conversion guy in my area is doing hybrid Hummer installs soon he claims. Maybe I need to do some D110's.

I would love to own an electric car for the performance, reliability, fuel/maintenance savings and for the "green" factor of it but they are still to expensive. $30k cheaper and i would be on the list myself. Looks to be a great car and nice styling, i beleive the handling would be good due to the batteries being wide spread through the frame and a lower center of gravity for better balance. Just my two cents.

I think that is a quote from the show 'The Loop'.
