term "rig"

seems i usually associate this with fishing drilling sailing, or something thats illogical and illconceived half ass put together with random parts of questionable integrity etc. So why do so many people with nice trucks that are well thought out etc. call them a "rig"

I equate 'rig' with Trucks and SUV, just used hand in hand, synonymously if you will.

According to Wikpeida, it's a slang for a Truck and SUV.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rig (10th bullet down.)

Also Rig was a Norse god! 'Described as old and wise, mighty and strong.' I'd say that would describe my D-90.

Btw...the computer geeks also call their tricked out pcs rigs as well.

Always makes me think of old cowboy movies ... they seem to refer to their collection of all the crap that goes on the horse as a "rig" and then give the same name to belt / holster / sidearm too.

I have found with all the Rovers I have owned that most of the time if a guy says "nice rig" it's because he has no idea what it is.
