Red face Tempted to the dark side

As some of you know, I'm a Series guy, I always have been. Today I went to look over a 110 for my ex-boss, I've never driven a Defender before today. I looked the truck over in all of the usual trouble spots, the owner started the truck up, sweet sounding engine, yes it's a diesel. He surprised me by telling me to take it out for a test drive, I don't know why, but I wasn't expecting that. So in I climbed, right hand drive, a bit different than what I'm used to, pulled out of the driveway, and imagine my surprise, I absolutely loved driving this thing, even better than driving my 109. You have no idea how much that pains me to say. My next truck purchase is definitely going to be a Defender, it may not be this year, but eventually. Oh what about the truck I drove today? I'm recommending to my ex-boss that he buy it, that way I get to drive it again!

If I weren't so financially strapped right now, I would be jumping on the one I drove today and told my boss, sorry not the right truck for you. This guy knows what he's doing with these trucks, very nicely done, the outside has all of the patina and personality and under it all, they are mechanically perfect, sweet sounding engine, smooth transmission, great ride. Once I sell my house and pay off the bills, I can afford to get a new toy.

Ask your ex boss for first rights of refusal if he ever wants to sell. With a bit of luck, it will be yours within one year.

I think I just may do that. I actually feel a little guilty liking a Defender so much though. :D

Here's what you do. You take your 109, see, and then you take out the engine....

I have only driven 1 LR ever.. the D90. Drove it thru a mud pit a couple of times. I liked it of course..was fun to do that...but when a D90 and my series came up for sale at the same time I went for the series. I don't know which one I'll buy after this one is complete.. but I found a 110 that I really, really like

Isn't the dark side really just rover ownership?
