TDV8 fit?

I think I'd like to try to put the Range Rover TDV8 3.6 in the 2A. Thing is I know very little about this engine as far as reliability and performance are concerned. I am assuming it's pretty quick since they put it in the Rangie and it is a turbo'd 8. You hear virtually nothing about this engine over here in the USA (along with the TD5) so the mystery surrounding it is pretty thick. 400-plus pound feet of torque at 1200 rpm is so awfully tempting.
If anyone could offer some pros and cons I'd be very glad to know about them.

Someone did it in the UK. It was a gigantic job. Basically rebuilt the vehicle around it with a lot of custom work. Also a large effort to custom program the computers to function away from the host vehicle.

Bell autos. I sent him a note. His response was that they sell a ECU and wiring harness conversion setup for the TVD6. The asking price for just that alone is 2950 quid. They're coming out with a r380 adapter plate so you can put in either a TDV6 or TDV8 in the Defender. I will likely swoon at the price of that as well. If I were a Saudi oil baron it would be a no brainer.

There's also another company here in the UK selling stand alone ECU's for the V6 and V8 (TD). can't remember the name, i'll grab a magazine in a bit and have a look.

edit: It's SIMTEK
