Tax exempt Rover in Holland

Could someone explain the exact situation in Holland regard older Rovers, I noticed quite a few diesels around 25 years old or more imported from the UK. I had heard about some tax free rule just curious exactly what it was

Some older vehicles are 'tax exempt' from the UK annual road fund license. Not sure about any rules in holland but a UK vehicle described as 'tax exempt' may refer to the UK exemption.

The rules for tax exempt are complex in that they were available to vehicles that applied and were on the road during the period of the offer. The government then cancelled the program but vehicles that had the exemption managed to keep it.

You can find 2 vehicles from the same age ... one tax exempt and the other having to pay!!

In Holland and some other European countries once a 4x4 gets to be 25 years old it becomes exempt road tax, In Holland this means a saving of about $1500 per year, thats why the dutch are buying up all the 25yr old vehicle and therefore keeping the price high.

In the UK for the vehicle to be tax exempt it had to be manufactured before 28th Feb 1973.
