Tax Assessments

Loudoun County (VA) assessed my 94' NAS at $2,125 this year. No complaints, here.
How does the compare to other counties?

Last year in Arlington my truck was assessed at just under $30K and I paid over $800 in taxes. Brutal. I am in Fairfax now so lets see what happens this year.

Prince William County, VA assessed my '94 D90 at $17k. It's amazing there is no set standard.

I'm very happy for you. My '97 was assessed last year at $25.5k.

Bizarre. I thought from talking with Charles that he got hit with a big tax bill on his 2 90's.

LOL. You have no idea how big the LR4 bill is. I'm ready to hand the fucking thing back! I could buy a car every year for that amount

Same here. $21.88 seems to be the bill for a '94 D90 in Loudoun County.

Dumb question....
You guys have to pay tax on the county's assumed value every year? That is crazy! In Houston, I pay 130 bucks a year to register both the 90 and the LR4.

Yes pure insanity. I pay more than that every MONTH for the privilege of parking the LR4 alone in Loudoun.

Is this purely a VA thing? I have my yearly registration but that is 40 or so. Who comes up with the value of the car?

It's actually a COUNTY thing...rural VA doesn't have it I believe. And some other states deal with the same thing, closer you are to a metro area the more they try to dig into your pockets. I'm sure there's some counties in NY (near the city) that do the same thing, but up in the boonies in Warren county we don't have any personal property tax there.
