TAKTIK iPhone Case on Kickstarter

Hi Everyone.

A friend of mine just launched a new innovative rugged iPhone case on Kickstarter. Take a look at the video and support the project. You won't be disappointed.

I love the idea of Kickstarter campaigns. Buddy's wife just launched a video game that way.

I would totally use this, but is there any mention of pricepoint?

Scroll to the bottom of the Kickstarter page. A $75 donation gets you a case.

Did you see the video?

I hated my Otterbox case, I had NEVER dropped my phone until I started using it and experienced the difficulty getting it in and out of my pocket. Then the plastic screen cover started scratching up. I ditched it and have been going without a case since. Everyone says "oh you should get a case" and I tell them that I am looking for a good one, "you should get an otterbox" and I want to punch them in the throat.
The dog knocked my phone off the table (was connected to the cord) a few weeks ago and the screen shattered. Coming off a $100 screen replacement I am willing to try a $125 case. Maybe even down for the future proof deal that will get me an iPhone 5 case when it comes out too. They have over half of the $150K they need in the first 24 hours, anyone else on here signed up?

It looks cool but I have no use for it. I don't like to even know my phone is even in my pocket, so I want it to be as light and slim as possible, and have one of those cases that came for free with it when they were having those antenna issues. The only times I've dropped my phone has been when getting out of the 90 after I've put the phone on my lap while driving after checking my map.

Aside from shock and water resistant which is cool (but at the cost of bulk), the real winners are the design and materials they use;people tend to put a high value on owning a different take on an item everyone else already owns.

It looks like they raised a million dollars last year to make their iPod Nano watchband, and it's always cool to see entrepreneurs getting out there and taking a chance! Good luck to them!

turns a big phone into a monster phone. How far will people go sacrificing their mobility and freedom.. so they can check a map or game scores?

I'm all for good design and toughness, but really. are we to be expected to be wearing a sling in the near future to tote around a "phone" ? so we can be data mined and advertised at 24/7?

Ill take a small flip phone to make my calls. If I need some info asap.. well.. I wont have it. Life goes on as it did pre cellphone. I might have to be prepared before I go out.. imagine that.

Sorry for the rant.. I do love kickstarter and have supported a few ventures... I'm just sick of all my iphone rabid friends nagging me because I haven't joined their club.

Did you get the package deal for the new iPhone as well, or just for the iPhone 4/4S?

Looks great! How is the quality? Scott, the designer and founder is a solid guy so I can only imagine that it is top notch and indestructible.

Should have done the package deal, as now my contract is up and I wouldn't mind a new phone... plus then I could sell the case for the 4/4S... but I didn't.

I am very pleased with the quality, I have noticed no problems with signal degredation (although I didn't get the aluminum version) at all, in fact it seems to hold a signal a little better than without a case on it at all. The gorilla glass is a very nice touch over the plastic that other cases use but it took a little getting used to, you have to press on stuff a little more deliberately than you would with no case on the phone at all. Turns out screen sensitivity is not adjustable on the iPhone unless you jailbreak it. I may not have cleaned the screen well enough before sealing it in the case, I had planned on taking it all apart and trying again but since then I have acclimated to it. Certain headphone and charger plugs are too large to fit with the case installed but this goes with the territory on a case like this. I do wish I had ordered the "bike mount" as well so I have a clean way to mount the phone in the truck but I will figure that out. As far as tough, its everything they said it would be. My kid (15 months) can chew on it, slam it on the floor, use it as a hammer to bash other toys into submission, whatever- not a scratch on the phone or the case for that matter.

How waterproof is it? I have the Lifeproof case on my 4s. It is waterproof to 6 feet. Decent case but has some issues. Has a small removable plug for the headphone jack. Cannot believe I have not lost it yet. Also you have to remember to carry around an adapter to use the headphone jack. Have had to quickly disassemble the case in front of customers to actually use the phone... The Tactic looks great and is the same price point as my Lifeproof. I am always around water on the boat, beach etc. water resistance is important to me.
