Where is a good place to shop for some? Who makes a good product? Anything special to look for?

I've always picked mine up from www.masterpull.com. Never any complaints.

Mine came from Master-Pull also. Their prestretched Superline (Dynex Dux) is stronger than the Amsteel Blue others sell.

I like the EE on, lots of attention to details.
I have had an x-line, if I needed on now I would go with the EE.

fancy hybrids lines are not necessary, synthetic line is consumable, dont spend over $200 for it.
talk to Scott at Rockstomper like Mike and Yousef suggested and then read this thread to learn how to repair it when it breaks:
http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showt...+repair+splice

i got my last line from rockstomper too

Allthough I am not a big Bill Burke fan, this is an intersting read. http://www.bb4wa.com/articles/amsteel2.htm

When I got my winch rope from Scott I dropped by his "shop" to pick it up. I mentioned that I wanted to learn how to splice the rope and make the eyes. He then spent an hour showing me how to do it, and BSing about wheeling, rock buggies and such.

As for using lines that are stonger than the winch capacity.......whats the point?

I went with a setup from rockbuggysupply. They had a good deal on the whole setup, line fairlead, hook and hammerlock link, and abrasion guard.
