Stuck Throttle

Had a fun moment on the motorway today. Went to pass someone in the 90 and stuck my foot down hard on the accelerator to downshift and the pedal stuck down. Shifted to neutral and pulled into the hard shoulder to figure out what was up.

Turned out my thick rubber mats had shifted around and the thread on the bottom of the accelerator pedal pierced right through them and stuck in place.

Check your mat clearances I guess

Glad you figured out the problem pretty quickly.

Here is something everyone should do....

The sharp point on the pedal stop gets stuck in the floor Matt rubber.

Nothing like accelerating away from a light and when you step on the clutch the engine bounces off the rev limiter :-)

Had to put my toe under the pedal and pull it up...considered letting the truck recklessly accelerate and make a panicked call to 911...but figured out stepping on the clutch would be a less dramatic option...

Build up of gunk in the throttle body is also known to cause this.

See now this is what I call reasonable action to a problem. How many times have I heard on the news some moron call 911 because the accelerator stuck wide open?

So you two had an automatics-only drag race?
