Tim, did the vehicle get shown to some peeps shortly before it was taken? If so, they might have done the ol key switch-r-roo. They hand you back the key to another RR, pocket the real one, and you just assume they gave you back the G4 Key.Then they come back and swipe it. Happened to me, sad to say, a few years back.

Happens at LR Dealers from time to time. We generally shoot emails around do one another to keep an eye out once it happens at one.

Sorry to hear about the G4, and I hope she's found without damage.

I had the same thing happen to me one day when I was working at LRHH. I had the keys, and I don't remember ever handing them over to the folks that I was showing the car too. They left a short while after and I went to hang the key back up on the board and it was gone. Not in my pocket, not on my desk...nowhere. The keys had never been out of my possession (I took them out of the ignition after the test drive).

I've heard about pickpockets before, but I had never experienced it until then. I never felt anyone reach in my pocket. Luckily I realized the key was gone right after they left. I pulled the extra key and parked the RR in the shop. I assumed the gig was to come back later after closing to snag the car. I had service re-key the truck later that week. Of course I never saw or heard from the potential "customers" again.

I also came in one morning to find a BMW M3 we had taken in on trade sitting on cinder blocks with its wheels missing. Insurance paid for new wheels, but a week after we put them on the car, the Sheriff's dept. caught the thieves selling the stolen wheels on EbaY!!! Go figure. So we ended up with an extra set of M3 wheels.

I'm sorry to say that our sister stores had a couple of trucks stolen under similar circumstances, but they didn't have the same luck. Both RR's were "recovered", but only after they were found torched and burned to the ground.

I'm glad you got it back, it's a damn shame they did all that damage to a G4

Congrats on getting it back. Damage looks fairly minor. I never heard from the two that I lost again, so be happy.

1. Wow, they have Papa Johns in the ghetto? That must be a nice ghetto.
2. Wonder how soon they lost the tire after plowing through your fence.
3. It did hold up pretty good all said and done, Land Rover should use that in a commercial.
4. This should go in the urban-offroading/mallcrawling thread.
5. So much for the international conspiracy to steal all the G4 RR's.
6. Who found it and how?
7. Glad you got it back.

Ha!, You know I was thinking about you when I typed that, but your place would be number 2 on my list. The first place is a full out chop shop running daily. I guess it's true what they say, the more obvious you are, the less people suspect. This place is in broad day light.

Next time I'm down we'll grab a beer and I can fill you in.

Tim, that's great you recovered the truck, I figured it was long gone.
