Not that this helps for the former loss, if you're not yet aware of the company Tile, check them out. They are effectively battery powered GPS beacons that can be placed just about anywhere on anything, car keys, child's backpack etc which will then allow for immediate location. I was an early buyer of these so I should be getting mine very soon upon which I will place one strategically to not be found but allow my DC truck to be found should it ever get stolen. http://www.thetileapp.com/

Inexpensive backup plan.

I fucking hate thieves.
Why would you torture a group of innocent gorillas like that? Gorillas deserve better!

Hi guys ... my 2 cents on GPS ... I have a Viper alarm that costs about $499. After installing it I downloaded the free app for my cellphone. When ever I park my car, I push a button on my phone and it will go off right away if the car moves more than 20 feet. Once the message comes to my phone it automatically opens my google maps and starts tracking the truck. This is great for parking garages, valets and thefts. It is really incredible how technology has changed the auto alarm industry.

What does it use for its mobile data connection?

I find this sort of political perspective to be laughably ludicrous. Clearly there are politicians and individuals from each political party that are cheats, liars and generally dead wood on the tree of plenty. However, in each of the places where I have lived (CO, WA, IN) the vast majority of the moocher population seemed to demonstrate blind loyalty to the GOP. I concur with antipathy toward moochers, regardless of their political affinity; however, broad characterizations as seen in the last couple posts are silly.

YMMV.

Awkward, no. Pundits and puppets from each side can twist the best of intentions to imply hypocrisy. Politics is just plain silly on a LR forum, particularly in a thread about a stolen rig. Back to the original programming on antipathy toward moochers in general and vehicles thieves in particular.

How did I miss this thread? Did Himalaya ever give us the VIN in case we see it? Every Defender I have seen in the USA I have photographed it and its VIN just for fun.
