I've found this to be a common problem amongst bankruptcy debtors. Little to no effort to educate themselves or correct the behavior that put them in bankruptcy in the first place. I did a lot of credit counseling when I was in private practice. Not all were this way, mind you, as there were plenty of genuine hardship cases. But, it never ceased to amaze me at how so few clients had any concept of what a budget was.....

Having just succeeded after months of hard work in saving someone's home from foreclosure today. It took persistence to overcome a a bankruptcy lawyer and then a foreclosure lawyer whose only interest was lining their own pockets, I'm celebrating a rare and positive success story.

These tracking devices are fairly simple to install and easy to use. A few friends have these hooked up to Vespas. No antenna. I also know people that leave prepaid phones hidden in their cars.

We had DMV out authenticating a VIN on a old Series a few weeks ago, and I happen to ask about the 5 antennas on the roof. He informed me they were for locating reported stolen vehicles with the tracking devices, and would activate within a 5 mile radius of such a 'find'. And in fact lead them to it...

Really sorry to hear about the 130 getting snatched. 130s are pretty rare so if I see one in the area that isn't Kolton's I will let Himalaya know.

Curious as how the perps got the rig out. Were they able to start it and drive it out or flatbed backed up and loaded. If they drove it out I find it somewhat ironic when you do read issues of not getting these things to run sometimes. Seems like pulling a fuel pump relay or a purposely loose inertia switch combined with locking it in 4 low would make things a little tougher for a thief.

Bother? You can't charge interest on a loan you don't make. Also, because when they default, the vehicle is easily repossessed and resold.

Agreed since production of the current models have been under-supplied to the US market and elsewhere, and their value retention has been much higher than in the past.

Kind of like stealing a Monet. With such a high profile theft seemingly you would have to have it pre-sold. Otherwise only a fool....

Hopefully it will just be left in a parking lot somewhere to be found and returned.

I reckon it was in a container within hours and gone overseas.

We'll find it sometime, in a far off country, and posted to the Defender sightings thread.

X2 That was my bet, headed south within hours. Only a tard would try and sell it on this continent.

just conveying my visceral hatred for people who feel they are entitled to steal things that we have built or earned.
I suppose a thief who hides is better than a theif who hurts/kills (as in the RR car jacking in NJ), but anyone who's had anything stolen from them that they care about would understand where I'm coming from. I spend an entire summer working shit jobs when I was a kid to buy a 2-year old CR250 so I could race the next summer only to have it stolen from my parent's porch. I still remember how bad that sucked.

If I lost a $150,000 Defender (insured or not), I'd pay another $150,000 to watch the mother fucker tortured by a black-ops contractor in the most inhumane way imaginable. I have no humanity for fucking thieves. To quote THE Big Lebowski: "Get a job sir!, the bums will always lose!!"

Anyway, didn't mean to make this about me (just explaining my over-the-top description). Just supporting Mark's cause and hoping everyone gets what's coming to them.

If it's still in the US I imagine a competent individual has possession of it. It really wouldn't be difficult to rebuild the thing into a 110 SW or DC, and as long as the tell-tale Himalaya style cues were removed I don't think anyone would wise up to it. I think that's why Aaron mentioned their eyes being on shops.
