Wow, sorry to hear that, Mike. It should certainly stand out if driven on the road.

Its probably already in a container headed somewhere, but I figured I'd post anyway, just in case.

Thanks,
Mike, ECR

Mike, is the chassis original? If AM was it stamped with vin.should be easy to spot ground out markings. Off with the hands!!!
This the second or third stolen this year?

OK with you if I send this out on my FB?

Its a new galvanized chassis, so it is not stamped.

Feel free to share around. It is on the ECR Facebook page as well.

I can't see anyone driving it around in the US. It would stand out too much. Its either being stripped for parts or shipped out of the country (IMO).

Bad news all around.
I hope ECR punches/stencils a discrete stamp/marking on the various components to help track down the parts when they show up on imported parts/trucks or eBay in the future.
Anything that can be shared on how it was stolen or preventative measures others should be using?

Even if this thing leaves the country it will be found if kept intact. There are too many of us on this forum that travel all over the world.

I bet he's right...already in a container headed overseas.

Just out of curiosity, what would be the insured value on a Beachrunner?

Thats awesome. They should have stolen a silver Toyota Corolla if they wanted to get away with it.

I wonder if the title now gets branded stolen/stolen recovery. I wouldn't think so since insurance never paid out.

Most insurance companies wait 30 days to pay out in case it's recovered. Glad it was found. Now if the Westport cops only had jurisdiction in North Carolina.

Well that doesn't happen very often, does it... hopefully it's in the same condition as before the joy ride.

I still think the best theft deterrence is a manual transmission.

Agreed, A recent story in Colorado pointed out that very few stolen vehicles are manuals. We had several stolen last summer in my area and almost all where in the garage with the door open and keys in the car/truck. Teens where to blame for several stolen cars one crashed only a few hundred feet from house smashing into a fire hydrant.

Would think having the t/c in neutral helps too.

Wow. Great news. Quick recovery. Didn't expect to read this bad news and great outcome all in one sitting.

Russell -

Valid point about the transfer case. Had never considered and like the idea.

I used to think life just got so complicated when Land Rover went from early to late IIA - up until auto manufacturers started to employ keyless systems, the push button starter was a pretty good deterrent.

Weird coincidence maybe, but I saw a truck that looked just like that on the back of a flat bed tow truck early this morning in Woodstock, VT.
