Speaking of Ferrari.. barn find on eBay

My buddy saw this on Fchat.. Damn.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Ferra...ht_1136wt_1006

And as he pointed out, they're screwed if they haven't been driven since 1979.. and I'm going with the assumption that this is a real find, not staged..

Wonder what it would cost to get a 72 Daytona running after sitting that long.

that guy wayne carini who has a tv show had a couple of barn finds on his show....

http://dhd.discovery.com/tv/chasing-...isodes_02.html

Episode 5 - Herb's Ferrari
Ferrari expert and master car restorer Wayne Carini gets a lead on a 1972 Ferrari Daytona Spyder for sale in Denver. Abandoned in a shed in the early '80s, the car has been painted an awful lime green and hasn't been driven for 27 years. It seems like a disaster, but Wayne has a hunch that he knows who the original owner is. With just 48 hours to put together a deal, Wayne and a friend hop aboard a private Gulfstream 450 in the middle of a blizzard and fly to Denver with the hopes of buying this rare Ferrari.

How much money must you have to possess such amazing cars and never bother to do anything with them? I saw the pics from Brunei and that guys ridiculous collection as well. Dang.

This has been all over Bring A Trailer for the last week or so. Lots of speculation about the use of eBay auctions just to drive interest (this is the second auction) and more questions than answers about the provenance of the cars.

I do not check PMs. Call or email if you need something.

ECR is not a parts source. We are not in the mail order business.

Yep - I guessed that the cars would have more wear on them given that they've been essentially sitting for nearly 32 years (haven't read all the background) and it would be nice to know *something* about the owners.

Considering that recent sales of functioning Daytonas have been in the 300k range (http://www.goodingco.com/car/1972-ferrari-365-gtb4-daytona), the auction seems a bit overpriced.
