Question Source for cheap(er) flights, anyone?

I'd like to help a person finding a cheap flight from US to Italy.
Any suggestion?

Company, website...flying D90?

Thanks

I use Expedia or orbitz to find the flights the double check the airline as they are lower if you book direct.

Still expensive compared to what you guys have over there since we do not have anything like ryan air

google bought this company ... it does deep searches of the airlines databases ... you can't buy flights there but it helps pick out the cheaper options.

thats true ... because no-one wants to fly tuesday to tuesday ... for Europe its a great combo ... means you get one full weekend without jetlag

I flew from Dublin to Stockholm last week, and Aer Lingus was much cheaper than Ryanair, and the airplane was much nicer than any Ryanair plane I've been on.

Ryanair is rancid .... unless you are on an exceedingly tight budget they should be avoided!

The last time I flew Ryanair was in 2006. It was the most crammed flight I've ever been on, but the tickets were only about €16 from Dublin to London, which was worth it in my opinion.

I never said it was posh, just pointing out that we do not have the cheap options that Europe does.

Most people I know from Europe are always shocked at the prices of airline tickets here in the us.

We use Ryanair all the time and have no complaints. For flights 3 hours or less why do you need any more than what they offer. They treat their planes like buses, they make no money when they sit and they are always on time. Pack what you need in a carry on, do not buy their food and drinks and its cheap.

I feel I just waste my time when looking for tickets online. The past 8 times or so we have always booked direct thru the airline as it was cheaper.

I didn't get notifications and only found now all the replies.
Thanks so far.

Flight will be from AZ to IT, I presume with 1 stop in London Heathrow (which I had to do all the times I flew over to US).

By the way, low-cost companies are not so low anymore IMO...

I have had good success with kayak.com as it searches multiple sites. It helps if can book several weeks out and also have a weekend stay over. We where able to flight to Italy ( arrive in Venice and leave via Rome) for 450 (taxes included) the other day. The time of year will also be a determining factor, slightly off peak (September) helped us a lot.

If searching for flights on one computer a lot, the airlines record your computers I'd and the price gradually rises. If you see that, go use another computer and the price drops again.
Tried it on a hunch when prices went up on one pc and it worked! The other one got the cheap flights I could no longer get on the other search pc
