Sorry Fellow '97 Owners, Our Defender Isn't "True"...

...according to this clown selling his '95 on ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Cars-....c0.m245.l1318

Yeah, that BMW transmission and updated center console really did kill the entire "Rover" spirit of the truck. I always felt like I've been driving an imposter and living a lie.

British Aerospace sold the Rover Group (aka Rover) to BMW in 1994 .. and then BMW sold to Ford in 2000. don't know where this clown got his years from..

I believe that D90 has been for sale for a while on ebay.. he's obviously trying to use some salesmanship while avoiding some other issues. Being an LI truck, I'd like to see some underside shots--the rust situation may not be pretty.

1-bar diamond plate in a Defender always looks good.

I jest.

It makes a nice step, but we complained about it loud and long just a while ago in another thread, I'll have to dig that up.

Didn't the naysayers make the same claim when coil springs were introduced back in the day?

Nice choice of rear spot light. It doesn't look out of place at all. Must of been an option on all the "true" rovers because my 97's don't have it.

No, the real complaints started when round wheels were introduced.

That said, automatics in defenders....oh, I'm not going there.

Uh, oh. Are those state recreation tags on the bumpers? Those are always bad news, those are the beach tags. And ain't no beach on the Island that ain't a salt beach. But not quite familiar, and no idea where that dealership is that's listed on the license plate frame. Rosenthal? Not a local dealership.

That, and the underside of the hood concerns me as well. Almost looks like the scorches from an engine fire. I'm also wondering what's up with the two screws/rivets above both of the headlight trims.

screws above the headlights could have been from those headlight guards that get drilled on.

that's a sweet custom cage, too

Which puts a bit of a bit question mark over the "one owner" claim.

Yeah and I bet the guy got raped by them too. Its not a very good dealership if the nickname of the place is Rosenthief.

Aesthetics The dam things are quasi farm trucks... It has the aerodynamics of brick. The skins are about as thick as a soda can. It will rust even in the Mohavie desert... But what the hell i love it anyway...
