Hmm . . . those would fit my 88. I need a set of stock wheels too.

People in the U.S. seem to go crazy over the XZLs. On the other hand, Tom Sheppard, who certainly has access to them, runs BFG All-Terrains on his G-Wagen. I might ask him about them.

Mark, Mark. Take a deep breath. All that talent is at your disposal with that OJ subscription.

Who knows: Tom Sheppard could be doing something on vehicle prep for desert travel soon.

Very soon . . .

Ahhh Jonathan, the lifestyles of the cool and connected! Do I sense a potential article for an upcoming issue of the OJ? BTW, when is the next issue coming out, I'm already getting the shakes for my next fix

Are you sure those are XZLs? they look more like the stock michelins that came on RRCs and Defenders in the late 80s and early 90s.

They look a bit like a more modern version of the XCL's I've got on my 109...

You're right. Noticeably less aggressive and different tread than the XZLs I've seen.

I have a set of 8.25 xzl's that I have not installed, cuz I need a little bit of a lit, but I bought stock Dunlop Radial Mud Rovers which were fairly inexpensive and have the almost identical lug pattern as the xzl, same tread depth. I know the sidewalls are stronger on xzl, but I was pleasantly surprised when I got the mud rovers.

HAA! You think your black magic will work on Pendy too Monkeyboy? Think again! He has powers way beyond your own. Mess with the bull, and you get the horns! If you doubt me, look at the chicken bones he has in his shop. 5th shelf on the right as you come in from the south. Good luck.

His yard is riddled with the leftovers of those that have succumbed before you.

i'll snap some pics when i get home later, side by side., and post tomorrow. if i remember correctly, the mud rovers have 4 lugs, and the xzl's have 3 across.

and no, i'm not parting with those babies. too much work to get them in the first place and i've got plans for them on D90 #2. i think they were the last set of 5 in the US at the time, and someone from the board actually tipped me where to get them.

Those look like XZL. The tread just looks really worn down.. But its hard to tell from those crappy pictures.

Anybody need any used Michelin XS tires in 7.50R16? I've got a set of four that I don't need. These are tube type sand and mud tires that have somewhere between half and two thirds of the tread depth left.

So XZLs brand new are $200 each, and St. Barbara is selling 8, with rims for a present bid of $280.

Other than used, what's wrong with them?

What are the height differences like between those two tires? I had thought that the (unobtainable) 8.25-XZL's might be a nice fit, but sheesh, they're narrower than I thought they might be.

yeah, I know 26.5/2.54 > 8.25 ... I'm a geenuis.
