Kids are off school today and tomorrow at a minimum - They say 6-8" more tuesday sometime.

I only lost power for 2 hours. It would suck to lose power for long!

I feel sort of bad for not helping my neighbors shovel their cars out and the little street. I just put it in reverse and out of my garage I went. Looks like 36 inches in Ashburn. Oh and Prius owners are idiots when they pass 3 SUV's doing 60 on the snowy part of the road. Was really hoping to see him in a snow bank like the H2 that I passed by. Dude looked mad on his phone.

Seriously, Schools are still open with 24" of snow on the ground (or just forecast)? I mean I know areas more accustomed to snow don't panic like areas that aren't, but very few vehicles can get around in 24" of snow, 4wd or not, until the routes are plowed.

A few blizzards ago we were without power for 3 days- it gets so boring. At least the stove is gas and we had the keg in the yard.

Sounds right. Depends more on how fast it comes down and how well the city is ready to plow. If the publc bus system is still running the kids can get to school. We don't really keep snow for long, this year has been the worst for snow sticking around.

Ya'll back east are hurting though, that stuff looks heavy and pain to shovel. I hate that extra wet heavy snow. It's not like our light fluffy Rocky Mountain champagne powder

Yep! Born and raised in CO and went to school in there, all through college. You have to remember that CO has plows and a system to remove the snow, plus many times it's 70 degrees the next day. I don't remember many snow days. I do know that in 4 years of college in Boulder, we got ONE day off because of a bad snow storm.

Things are generally up and running in the philly suburbs. Had around 2ft at my house.

Driveway would not be passable without a 4wd. Defender did not mind although the roads were so bad over the weekend I was driving around in diff lock the whole time.

LOL. 2000 for me. Same storm for us then. We left for TX when it started and almost didn't make it back when they started closing highways the end of the week-end.

I think there was another one later that got my afternoon classes canceled before I graduated.

I was in Boulder for that storm too. I think it was the first time the school had ever closed up to that point in time.

We just had about 25-30" of snow. We used the snowblower, and did much shoveling 4 times DURING the storm. So our driveway was clear..........but still now plow today.

My wife told me to not be stupid and try to drive in this snow - think of our two sons..............BUT she is a Physical Therapist and had 3 patients today (that had all confirmed). The neighbors had snowblowed a treacherous path to the main road. But our driveway was beyond where they started by about 75 feet.

I told my wife that I think I could get the old Land Rover out. Now that it was HER patients she let me go. With minimal effort the Rover made it out! I have been through some deep snow in the D90 - but this was probably the most.

So I got to drive through the snow after all!!! Even that little distance - and then to the end of the street was pretty amazing. The Defender is just awesome!!!!

Ready for round 2 tonight and tomorrow!!!!
