Snoty chicks in Range Rovers.

Ok I had the Beastie from Whales out the other day. The Beastie for all it's rustic charm runs like a top. The engine fires right up. It tracks straight and true down the road. So I decided to take a quick spin down town and on my way home, I pull up to a stop light next to a yuppie chick in her New Range Rover.

She is in the right lane and I am in the left. So I am sitting right next to her cause the Beastie is RHD and I look over at what is obviously a BRAND, SPANKING new RR and I wave. She looks at me like I was from Mars or something and NEVER waved back. Actually she looked pretty annoyed and got on her cell phone. I don't think she had one CLUE what the 110 really was. Now the Beastie is a bit rough around the edges and the house paint camo probably doesn't help either but yeah... the Marque was TOTALLY missed. Hell I doubt she would have got it if it had been the NAS 110.

As soon as the light turned green she tore off like it was the thing to do.

-----SIGH-----

It reminded me of how Porsche 911 guys look down thier noses at 944s. Funny thing is my 944 (89 Turbo S) is so heavily modified that only a 996 turbo or better can smoke it.

Get used to it is all I can tell you. The new age rover owners rarely get it..

well said. I see so many HSE's and sports around here I just close my eyes and imagine them all being classics. I cant throw a rock and not hit a new Rover being driven by a 100 lb milf.

Also take solace in the fact that in 10 years the bitch will have probably hit the wall and be all pissed off no one waves at her anymore...end up in therapy and all fu&ked up with botox.

I get the same here but with drug kingpins and corrupted politicians. They just go and buy the most expensive suv on the market, they don't have a clue

I see that way too much. I have gotten maybe 4 waves from MKIII and LR3 owners... I guess some asked about the Defender line and got suckered into the other trucks at the dealers.

But most people I see in the new trucks just drive by. I have even found myself in a line up of MKIIIs LR3 and D2 cruising the west side highway all together and I imagine they are saying to themselves "I wish that stupid Jeep wasn't messing up our Range Rover line up" (They say Range Rover only because they think Range Rover makes the other models and think Land Rover it a Toyota)

It seems that tradition and history of a marquee is no longer embraced. I waved at a D1 driver next to me at a light had a lift and a arb and he stared at me like I had lost my mind, and I was in my Hunter, not the Jag for once.

imo the new range is the nicest looking SUV on the road right now. Actually the design has been around since 02 or 03, they've aged very well.

My red truck gets some street cred from the newer rover folks. Most of them know what a D90 is at least. Most ....

Its because you drive a wrangler.

On another note why is anyone surprised? People in range rovers don't even notice other range rovers.

Damn, you said it first...Actually, when I see John, I don't wave either because of that.

Back to the subject...yeah, not sure what the surprise is here. Most people that buy new rovers are buying for status...they aren't enthusiasts of the most unreliable brand around.

I'm picturing Brian in his garage bay, sitting in the passenger seat of his Defender (passenger seat this day because he had a nightmare the night before that he may be wearing the seat cushions too unevenly) and John drives by with his muddy Defender, smiling and offering a wave. Brian refuses to wave back...

Brian doesn't wave because the garage door is closed when he sits in the truck.
