Snorkel?!?

So there are quite a few used Mantec Snorkels out there for sale...is that because they suck and folks get rid of them quick or because they are so good everyone has them and they are so abundant?

What is your opinion on which is sealed better?

I have the Mantec and modified so "it worked correctly" and was able to run the tubing in a way that made sense. I may be tempted to remove from my truck and sell (whole truck is for sale casually). IF you are REALLY seriously interested in buying let me know and I Will take pics of the Mantec and mod. Better sealed? Hmm, may take more mods.

How did you modify it?

I only use the Mantec and never had any issues. Supposedly they are no longer made?

As for sealing, I had 2 sections of rubber ducting with mine. they press fitted in the center. I didn't trust that, so i got a short section of exhaust tube and slipped it in the joint, so the clamps could bear down with pressure on it.

180 degree tube off the point of entry into the top of the fender. Pics would illustrate better and for that see previous post. Mine seals well. I can hear the air suck in from the snorkel every morn. Mine was sold as the last in NA so no longer made may be true.

What about South Down and the others. Looking for opinions on equipment. I realize when most buy a snorkel they sick with it rather than change it out if they aren't happy.

I would imagine no one is doing deep water so maybe an opinion doesn't exist on equipment of this sort and how well it's sealed...

It is functionally impossible to get water into the air intake of a NAS EFI V8 defender. The air intake is high and at the back of the engine so the distributor or coil packs will flood and stop the engine before water gets in. They do look cool though.

Haven't had any complaints about the ones we started sourcing. Hot dip galvanized then powder coated.

For which engine?
I want a wing top entrance not on the side of the fender and they won't make a specific one for my engine so that doesn't matter. I'm not convinced it exists.

Do you have something other than a 200,300Tdi, Td5, Tdci, V8? If so, please feel free to shoot me a PM and I will see what I can come up with for you!
