Snap-On Solus 13.2

I'm looking to buy it and wanted to know pointers on what to look for.

I've seen them on EB with the Asia/Europe/Domestic ~$1,000-1,200.

I have an '07 Passat and my Rovers.

Any special cables for the VW or Rover?

I have the newest Snap On Solus, but I don't experience with the older ones. Its pretty good, but I can't see spending that kind of money for something that you don't use everyday. I use it in place of SDD almost every day because it is way faster. You should look at the Autel scanner. Its about $1500 or so new and is comprehensive than the Snap On scanner. I didn't buy it because its too slow.

Jimmy,

Thanks for the information.

I'll look into the Autel scanner.

I know I'll use this probably once or twice a year... but I like to have my tools and can help out others if needed (for beers of course )

This is the one I'm talking about. I demo'd one for a week, and it should suit your needs. Cornwell sells them.

Pedro! Seriously...do I need to come over and slap you? You DON'T need this $1500 scanner. You only need this:

Dood.

That's a POS Mickey Mouse scanner. I'm the one doing the slapping just by this suggestion.

I need a real scanner, one that can talk to the ABS, SRS, ECU Management, etc.

aka the real deal.

Low blow.

A 9V battery will fix that in a jiffy.

I use Ross-Tech's VAGCOM (now called VCDS). I use it all the time on mk4-6's without any problems. It also communicates with all the modules in a VW. So you can change the speedometer multiplier (mk6), door locks, turn off the seatbelt warning, reset service light, check TDI timing, make the windows roll down with the FOB, etc...

It does have generic OBD2 functionality, but I have not tried it on a rover yet. I suppose I could try it on my wife's RRS, but she might get pissed if I break it.
