Showing the ignorance...

...but I keep seeing cables strung between the brush guard and roof rack on some of your trucks. What is this for? Again, pardon my ignorance.

Those are limb risers.... Keeps the branches from whacking the windshield; lifts 'em up and over the top.

Sooo, wronge. They are for posing in front of the mall, Starbucks, or Bed Bath & Beyond. Please use appropriately.

Both answers seem correct in their own context. Thanks for the wisdom.

Dave you really are slipping, or are you trying to keep this little secret to yourself???

But to answer the question, when panties are being thrown your way (as will happen when owning a Defender) you will want some way to display them, and rather then let them clog the windshield so you can not see you simply move them to the cables you have just strung from the bumper to the cage. Now you want to use heavy gauge wire as you will be hanging a very large collection off of them. I recomend 1/4" at the least, it is rated at about 1000 lbs.

See, and here I am without the limb risers because I still haven't gotten my first pair thrown at me yet :-(
I guess it's a soft-top thing, Station Wagons aren't "panty grabbers".

(where did this joke start anyways?)

Oh, man, I don't want to be the one to tell you this, but SW are the biggest panty attractors of the bunch. This is awkward, umm, maybe your giving off the wronge "vibe"?

I put limb risers on my truck and I actually get some use out of them. Around here in the warmer months the stuff on the sides of the trail really grow into it and in about a month the trail is only half as wide as it was in the winter and there is small branches and bushes hitting your windshield. And they do what they should, push the branches up on top. Plus I like the attention from all the people asking what they are for.

But they REALLY SUCK when the top is off. All that stuff just hits me in the head. Then I feel stupid for putting them on there and say I am going to take them off but never get around to it.

Best response I've ever gotten (was on a car lot no less):
"So those things keep the brush guard on or what?"-Salesman
"No, the BULLBAR is connected to the frame, those keep the stuff I run over from getting stuck in it."-me
