Jack, does your boler have a shower? I really want one with a shower but I don't see any available other than the new ones.

Zodi hot shower is just the thing a small trailer needs in fact with a little rigging you can have hot running water inside from it too.

I have a seperate shower tent with an onboard hot water heat exchanger built into my Rover. I haven't seen any of the 13 foot class fiberglass trailers with a shower - you almost have to move up to a 17 foot class trailer to get the onboard bath set up. Remember that the tongue length is figured into the size of the trailer - my 13 foot Boler really only has a cabin length of around 10 feet.

The new scamps it is an option for a front bath.

Ron

PS I considered towing the dormobile behind the D90, but it does not have plates.

Am I right to assume you created this? or is it available from the shelves ?

I built it myself - some folks have permanently mounted the pumps on their trucks and had them fail because they were somewhere like under the fenders where they were subject to road debris and other mishaps. A friend of mine had his pump mounted to a piece of plywood where he could just plug it in and hook up the hoses to his heat exchanger when he wanted to run the shower. I just took his idea a bit farther by putting the pump in a Pelican case and adding some extra plumbing so that I could mix hot and cold water at the shower head for the perfect shower. I bought most of the plumbing and hardware at McMaster-Carr and the pump and flat plate heat exchanger off Ebay. All told I have a little over $300 in the whole setup plus the shower tent which cost $85 on - you guessed it - Ebay.

I imagine the Scamps with the front bath would be pretty cramped inside - my Boler isn't exactly spacious but it's pretty good for two people.

adding a bath:

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q. Can a bathroom be added to a Scamp without a present bathroom?
Can a bathroom be added to a Scamp without a present bathroom?
A. In America anything is possible. But, some things are not easy or necessarily wise to do. When originally building the trailer all trailers requiring bathrooms are laid out for bathrooms before anything else is installed. Water lines are run, wiring is run, and fabric is installed to allow for correct installation of the shower and toilet. This can be difficult to accomplish after the fact. Also, when we started putting in front bathrooms we changed the frame up front to allow for the black water drain from the toilet. Without this frame change the front of the trailer cannot use the present toilet or the fiberglass shower floor. So, at Scamp we have no instructions on how to add a bathroom and shower after the fact, nor do we do so. There have been several enterprising fellows who have gone to the trouble to do so themselves, so it is possible.

Hey Ron,

I figure you aren't looking to buy new,but have you seen the Airstream Base Camp Trailers ? They even have an 'off-road' variant (2" lift?), though I don't see much difference in the specification, other than a 2" higher hitch ball height...

Pricey I'm sure (being an AirStream), but along the same lines concept wise.

I think the basecamp is really neat, I even went and checked them out. They are fortunately light enough to be towed quite well by a d-90, but unfortunately they weren't very popular and airstream discontinued them. I think they were just over priced for the market and the declining economy was the last nail in the coffin. They also don't have bathrooms, but they can at least haul a motorcycle and are orders of magnitude more stylish than a scamp.

Basecamp is too much $$$$ and looks dumb (sorry JimC I think the scamp looks cool). The ad is still up so I am hoping to check it out this weekend.
