Shipping a rig across country

Looking to ship a rig from DC area to Montana. Any current recommendations on reasonable and quality shippers?

I have used the gal below two times with my Defender. Once from San Diego to Denver, then Denver to Richmond. I did enclosed carrier, and had no issues. Every broker puts out feelers, so hundreds of transport companies can take the bid they put out. She is honest and would go back and forth with trucking companies on price until I was satisfied. Just make sure whoever transports it is highly insured.

I had no idea what a zoo the auto transport industry is until I had to make arrangements get my D90 shipped. It's probably a good idea to go from personal recommendations. Car shipping works on an open market system so you'll want a good broker that goes to bat for you regardless of who ends up moving your truck.

Be wary of putting your info into car shipping quote sites - you'll be fielding robo-calls for months. Also, make plenty clear that you're shipping a Defender which is 6'5 tall which calls for additional planning in how the carrier trailer is loaded.

Montway. They are a shipper, not an agent. Brought my Ninety from PA to OR & did a great job.

We routinely ship vehicles across the country. Can't make any particular recommendations, as we use many different carriers. But, about $.80/mile is pretty much the going rate for an open carrier. Enclosed/specialty carrier will be more.

I was actually going to suggest it! Minimum is four passengers for a D90 and seven for a 110.

Athena handled my 110 from NY to Dallas; great advocate for you communicates well.

When I mentioned a Defender, she asked 90 or 110? I was immediately impressed.

Shipped my 110 from DC area to Dallas. I couldn't find a better rate than Brandy. It's a small family company (couple and their daughter) and worth a quote at least. (540) 492-0883. They know defenders well and have great communication.

Ha. I am amazed at how many of you use Athena. I do.
Or Richardson Transport. Donnie is well versed in Defenders and can trouble shoot if necessary. He ships our Himalayas across country. Great guy.
He can be reached at 910-358-1921.

Looks like I benefited from everyone else's use, as Athena was remarkably knowledgeable.

She has a great voice too. My wife wanted to name the 110 "Athena" after talking to her. Now, my wife renamed it 'the brick', not because of the shape, rather the lack of movement.
