shipping 2 bikes from UK. any ideas

I need to ship to new bikes from the UK. was quoted 400 Pounds sterling! anyone know a shipper for less?

I see I am in the wrong section, sorry feel free to move it to Misc.

That doesn't sound too bad really.

I completely dismantled a bike for a friend of a friend off of the old yahoo D90 list, and fitted it all into a box pallet, and i'm sure shipping wasn't much more expensive than the 400 you were quoted (albiet half of that, as it was only one bike)

Trouble with bikes is that they need careful packing, cars can just be driven into a container.

I thought 400 Sterling was a bit high for 57KG in weight. still looking around probably won't find any better.

As what Jeff asked... are these motor or pedal?

I was referring to motor (like 200+ KG each....)

if it's pedal, then they're yanking your chain.

I would ask your airline how much it would cost. Even with the oversize fee, I think it is cheaper to take it as luggage. Make sure to pad it well though. Local bike shops should be able to get you boxes for free and pack them for a fee.

Problem is that they are to small for sea freight and 400 for the air freight is not too bad.
