Shed Hunting

Anyone into Shed Hunting? I guess this is a spring time activity, to go out in the woods and look for antlers and such.

My girlfriend has asked about it several times and loves antlers, and we always spend a a good half hour admiring the Grant Caribou in the museum of natural history. Iíd like to make this happen next year.

Iím assuming Iíll drive out into the forest, get out and wander through the woods in a random search pattern and hope for the best.

Any tips, suggestions, locations?

Thanks,
Oscar

People train dog to do this. Got a dog? If not keep your eyes peeled and keep in mind the colors. They can range from bleached white to their natural color. Good luck. It's a great excuse to get out into the woods.

Had a dog

I figure if we plan to put in ten miles of hiking per day around our base camp, we can cover a good area of ground.

I spend a lot of time in the woods, ive found several over thebyears, generally chewed by rodents. My best find was a 8 pointer that had been hit on a highway and died in the woods, i saw the tips poming through leaves and knew id scored.

And I'm here already so I'll just say that those bolt-together quonset-hut sheds are a royal pain in the rear to put together. Hunt for another type of shed.

Every anorak needs a cozy shed out back.
