Series truck insurance?

Hey guys been a few months since I've been on here. Just wondering a roundabout cost for insuring a $4-$5k US spec Series 2a or 3 would be? If i find the right truck soon for the right price ill buy it, and It would be in CT, I am 19 and I would personally buy the truck, but I could have the vehicle in my fathers name and as a secondary vehicle for him if that would be easier. Any ideas on the rates and how this historic type insurance works?

Go through Hagerty as long as its not your only/daily driver. Costs me $78/year for $15,000 in coverage (agreed value).

Wow, thats cheap, yeah i got a 4runner as my DD, this became much more feasible. Wasn't gonna insure it and drive it for a year (just have it sit in the garage and fix it) or so if it was like $1k a year, but damn, i may able to afford to now!

I have a few vehicles through them so I get a discount, but max would be $125/year I believe.

Age MAY be an issue...just keep that in mind.

Haggerty is cheap, and I've used them in the past for my roadster, but they will NOT cover off road use.

I seem to recall hearing that, but couldn't seem to find that exclusion in my policy. I'll have to double check, but it's rare that I wheel the Series anyhow.

Yeah, $125 is still within the realm of cheap for me, i was expecting way higher, worst case scenario is the truck can be titled and insured under my fathers name (he will be using it too anyways), i won't be offroading it so no worries there.

Thanks for the info.

Maybe things have changed, but that's what I was told when I titled my 83 hicap 4 years ago.

Antique insurance won't cover a 19 year old in my experience.

hagarty also puts a 3k mileage limit on the vehicle and you can only drive it for pleasure.

Chubb does not have these restrictions

Actually this I did contact them about. There is no mileage restriction with Hagerty actually, just that it can't be used for every-day basic transportation:
http://www.classiccarinsurances.com/...nce-quote.html

I've also talked to them about that as well, and have an email from them somewhere confirmation but I seem to recall it on their website too.

------ Follow up post added April 5th, 2012 10:23 AM ------

Found it:

"While there is no mileage limitation specified in the policy, limited pleasure use does NOT mean that vehicles will be used for normal or backup transportation such as driving to and from work, school or errands. The policy also requires insurance be maintained on regular-use automobiles at all times."
