Saturday in Virginia

This is how we scrap a LWB on a Saturday...

Yank the motor, trans, and BorgWarner out in one shot.
Lift it up and yank the gas tank.
Call the junk man.

Pathetic.

When we were trying to open the bottom tailgate the hinges pulled out of the cargo floor.

We saved as many good pieces of this Classic as possible.
The maplight rearview mirror, center console, rear doors, the 4.2 + ZF, ...

Supported by a single chain hoist from center support of the building. Then loaded onto a landscape trailer...

Didja get all the little plastic prong keepers out of the dash panels? Was the windshield any good? How about the wood trim? Center console?

Ok .... safety points for it being the sway bar (but it would have been a lot cooler of a story if it was the fuel tank ... What did Bill call it.?.. yea, Schadenfreude)

Looks a lot easier than the way we did it

But Bill's was so nice it seemed a shame to waste it.

Hey Jeff, did you save any of that sway bar? I am considering widening mine, so would need about 7" worth of the bar.

Jeff, It was the end of the day and we hadn't found anything to grind off!

How exciting is a picture of a breaker bar snapping a bolt??

We were actually surprised by the rust under this truck. It didn't look that bad a few years ago when the PO dropped it off but wow...when we got a good look underneath.

Any value in saving the Rangie hubs/spindles?
The 3rds are 10 splines so we were going to toss 'em.

Id hold on to the axles. If nothing else you could pipe cap them, then swap them in to your truck for minimal downtime.

That's all bad! An insurance guy could make a boat load selling Death and Dismemberment Policies on this board!

That's exactly what I thought later after I wrote it Robbie!

My trailer already has a Rover axle but all you need is the spindles/hubs and some square or round tubing to make an axle.

Then again, when some people break an axle they destroy the spindle ,too....

I'd hold on to the spindle too... Might need one at some point to repair your truck.... [and excellent catch on the trailer axle idea! I should be looking for a cheap set myself before all those axles get scraped!!!]
