I have an axle down at J&D Powder Coating here in Tacoma. No idea on anything further north. There are some very stringent environmental regulations imposed upon these businesses here in the city so most of them locate in unincorporated areas.

You might ask Brian at DNW who he uses?

Ditto on environmental regulations. Getting anything that has been galvanized cleaned up is a nightmare.

I have had really bad luck with many companies around Seattle because they always are asking what car does it go on? Why does heck does it matter when they have a set of photos showing the parts that needs blasting? When I do tell them, they come up with the estimate and so far blasting a bulkhead has been around $500 and about $100 each for the front wheel well.

Thought I'd ask, one guys said that it take 1 hour or more to sand blast front wheel well so in total to blast bulkhead, rear axle and two wheel wells going to take 6 hours to blast.

Does that sound reasonable to you guys?

I am just sick of these opportunistic small business owners.

As much as I want more tools, I think this one I will have someone do it. Don't need any of these in my lung or anywhere close.

No self serve places around? Up here there is a place that is $75 an hour for full sized blasters. A bulkhead should be half an hour. Charging $500 is robbery.

I won't name places because there are handful of robbers in this town.

Seriously, 6 hours to blast 4 parts?

I have a 60 gal Ingersol Rand air compressor and it struggles to put out enough air to do any real sand blasting. I just pay someone to do it unless it is small parts.

I got me a bulkhead, an axle, and wheel wells.

I found $106 an hour shop and $450 for all those pieces as a project.

$450 is mobile. I am tempted to just go with mobile guy....

I don't know how moving big parts across the border works. I found a guy who will do it for 275 for bulkhead, axle and two inner fenders about an hour north from me.

I will call them tomorrow though. Thanks.

Just got my stuff back from J&D. They did a really nice job. The axle tube and radius arms look brand new. I'm going to etch them and coat with Eastwood chassis black this weekend. Cost for one axle tube, two arms, plus various bits from the outer axle was about $125.
