Yes, that is what I mean. Seems people have been asking where to get them all the time. daveb has one for sale right now and it is first I have seen for sale in years.

Gathering information on what people want us to stock right now.

D2 racks will be on my list.
Not sure the D1 market is there anymore, but willing to listen to all requests. I do not want to make assumptions. If a bunch of people request something, I'll work on it.

Mike,

One other thing, do you know if SD has a cage for the current spec elise/exige? The website is horrible (http://www.safetydevices.com) and does not realy list products and while I don't want a cage (I would never be able to get into the car again), lots of lotus folks do.

To keep it rover, it would probably be worth stocking some of the under parts of the cage that rust. I am thinking about the front fender inner supports and the brackets they ride on as well as the ones in the back under the back of the tub.

Also, it would be interesting to see if they could sell the upper cage for an ST too for two reasons. 1. Lots of them the foam is bad and 2. more ROW trucks coming in where people might want to convert.

Mike:
Any plans for a second run of NAS 90 SD original factory style roof racks?

PS: The 5 bar ladder tread plates would be a nice bonus for LE owners - hint-hint... :-)

That is great news Mike. I hope it works out for you and does not become a pain in the neck hassle. If nothing else it will help with customer trucks I guess.

Sometimes carrying a line like SD could take on a life of its own. Its not like shipping matchbox cars. I would imagine anyway. Whenever I have to ship large items it becomes regretable. I'd almost rather load it on a trailer and drive it out to people most times. After dealing with shippers.

Congrats again

I want / need to add a cage to my 1984 90 and I am sure other people that are importing defenders will also be looking for cages.

At this point I am not sure what one would fit my needs since I would like to retain the hardtop but I also have an exmoor hood for summer time.

Might be worth keeping the imports in mind

sure would be more convenient and cost effective if somehow you could introduce a "bolt together" system for these kits...either folks could have them welded locally or the tubing could bolt into sockets like an erector set or something. easier/cheaper shipping for sure rather than pre constructed cages...just thinking out loud

I think there would be a lot of demand for this. As Ron says a lot of the NAS trucks need either replacement parts or the whole thing, and the imports could be spiffed up too.

Rust replacement parts are already in the works.

Soft Top parts for NAS will not be possible. The molds have been destroyed. I know, I know, but a few years back they were destroyed.

Yes, as soon as the feet are done.

5 bar... you can still get those chunks from LR I believe.

It is mainly for in house projects, but if we can do some mail order too... then so be it.
Luckily after shipping all the 90 racks recently we have a very good system in place now, and everything comes to us crated, so not so big a hassle. Not liike sending used large parts... you are right, that sucks.

The majority of the SD cages for Defenders all bolt together, much like NAS cages.

It's not like moulds can't be made from an existing (good) set though...

until you explore the costs....

I did, and we won't be going that direction.

That is good news, I'm definitely in for the roof systems. Do you think it will be a 3-6 month timeframe? Will you get a 50-80% commitment for, say, a run of 25 before you initiate the buy? Thanks.

As soon as the feet are done and checked out for quality then we'll take the next step on more NAS 90 racks. I'll post here in the vendor section and on the ECR site when products will be available for the "put your name in" stage.

Right now I just want to explore what people want, so we can make plans to get it done.

I need the full roof rack and ladder system for the D-90 ST. I was on the list for the first batch that you guys had imported over the winter, but at the time they came in I was dealing with two terminal grandparents. Unfortunately (or fortunately depending on how you look at as they were both suffering terribly) they have both passed on and now I have time to spend time on the D-90 again with the kids. PLEASE let me know if you can get them.

Thanks!

Since they are never coming back ... what were the original moulds made of and what type of foam is it?
