Safety Device NAS D90 roof racks return (part 4)

Just an update for folks. SD confirms the 25 NAS D90 racks will be complete by Feb 6th and then loaded and shipped shortly after. So it won't be long now.

I have no concrete data on Disco or other products at this time.

All the costs are not in yet (and won't be until they clear customs in US) but we are hoping to keep them under 2500. for the complete system.

As of right now we have more people on the list than we have racks. Holly has been taking names and contact information. Then when the price is set she will contact everyone in the order the requests came in. Likely some folks will drop out, so as for them being all sold or not... its hard to say.
I decided not to take deposits and just do it this way, that way folks can back out easier if the timing is not right for them.

Thanks, but I can't take any credit for the SD rack, other than hounding them for the last four or five years, but I'm good at being a PITA like that.

Does anyone have any good pictures of a ST with the Safety Devices rack on it with the top off? I currently have my fiberglass top on mine for winter driving, but will be switching to a Badger soft top and the rack as soon as it comes in. I am getting excited about getting this all together this spring!

Post up if you have pics!

Here is the work from SD regarding D2 full roof racks:

"As regards D2 I am looking at the next roofracks to do - it is between the defender 110 which we would sell in the UK and/or discovery 2. Pat and I will agree what we want to do next week and you will be the first to know!"

So my advice for D2 rack folks is to drop me an email if you are a customer for a rack that would likely be in the 1200-1500. range. That way I can show them there is demand.

Gave ECR my credit card today. Who else made the cut?

What's the best way to do flooring for these racks?

It's all about the Farmtek Chicken Coop flooring.

http://www.farmtek.com/farm/supplies...15_HA2217.html

I think the D90 roof rack takes 3 pieces.... use the 'nonoverlapping' one... it overlaps on 2 sides, not all 4...

Buy some black 250lb zip ties from http://www.buycableties.com/catalog/?cid=8

Cheap, durable and actually looks decent.

Holly just started on that a few hours ago, so doubt you'll get too much feedback yet.

Also keep in mind that as far as I can tell by looking at Holly's list the majority of the customers came from our web site (past customers and such) and are not names I recall ever seeing on this board before.

Call any competent marine shop and ask for pricing on "king-board" or Star-board. You can get it in one size and cut to fit the rack floor. Also use some nice clamps instead of the zip ties. Those suck.

That Kennel flooring looks pretty good. Is it heavy? The problem with King Starboard is that it is expensive and very heavy. I wouldn't really want to add that much weight to my roof rack just in flooring alone. It is great for a lot of other stuff though, I have used it quite often. Actually, I used a piece of it to mount my aux. fuse box and relays in the 110.

The kennel flooring is light (8lbs each) ... and strong... I have stood on it a lot without any issues... even had 2 people up there.. I have it on my d2, but I helped ini88 put it on his D90's SD rack.. fits good, not 100% perfect (i think there is a few inches that is left uncovered.. but nothing that's really worrisome..
