I had to do it when I broke both front shocks on the same trail. I drove all the way home like that. Without the winch holding the front end down it would bounce like crazy, I even caught some air a few times.

the winch cable is to pull the front down when climbing waterfalls, etc. more so than off-camber situations. that much front wheel travel paired with that suspension geometry made the truck have a tendency to unweight the front when you hit the go pedal on steep inclines (you see a similiar effect with 90s equipped with SGs 3-link).

i don't know if there's more pics on pirate ... i have a bunch that he sent me back when we were talking about it.

Man, I think I would hurt myself in something like that. The 2nd pic is awesome.

Actually, as I look at them closer, Pic 1 & 2 are from the same spot just from 2 differant angles if I am not misaken.

SG 90? nice but... Keep me awake here... I don't mean to be disrespectful but if you bought Troys truck gave me the remaining $45K You would end up with one AWSOME D90! Or D110 if you want... Thoughts of breakage would not exist... If you wanted to go play Safari in style or go play Rock crawler all the $$$$ would buy you somthing amazing indeed!!!
Pretty much make any... And i mean any other defender look sorta .... well... girlie....

Listen guys,

I don't care what goes on deep in the Colorado woods but please, keep it off the board. Kids can see this.

Thumbs up That buggy is awesome!

Troy, when are you planning to sell your 90? I know someone that could possibly be interested, specially if it's in that price range. Let me know...

Philip, I think that winch on the axle thing is kinda like the lockouts on mountain bike suspension forks. When climbing hills, you can lockout your suspension to get a stiffy...LOL

glenn-
hopefully it'll be ready in the next couple of weeks....hopefully....
i've been saying that the past 2 months, but have been tied up with a newborn and work.

i've got a little more work to do putting in the old diffs, etc. but, yes .... it'll be priced in the mid-teens. I don't have an exact figure yet, but if your friend wants to talk to me, i'd be more than happy to answer any questions and give him the scoop. i can be reached at 303-710-2194.

David - that's just plain wrong man, where's the love??? on 2nd thought, don't answer that ... lol

What's the general consensus on the 3 link? Road to trail? Any other recommendations then ponying up for something like that to get more flex out of the front end?

Just curious.

i've wheeled trucks with and without it. personally, i like it ... the truck is more stable off-road & overall, it makes the 90 easier to wheel. i can be a little more sketchy on-road, but if set up right, nothing real bad IMHO...

i think its still the best system out there even with some of the set-up drawbacks, etc (i'm talking for a bolt-on application. if you go custom I think one can do better, but you're going to get pricey pretty quick).

Hugs! Kisses!?!?!
Nah more like slaps and shakes to bring my friend back to the real world till life becomes that dull roar...
Did wake him up though
I pulled off a three link and I've put on a three link a couple times now and i cuss like mad each time i do it...
But it is the best out there and i care really appreciate the design for what it is... Bolt on... To do better I'm 99% certain you'll have to break out the welder. And better to build on a 9" or a Dana 60...
OR Here you go Troy... Portals.... Back in to dream land you go...
Dreams are good though as when they come true they become awsome reality..

I think it has something to do with the hugs, kisses, slapping shaking, and stiffies...

"you can lockout your suspension to get a stiffy..."

Ohhh it's gettin' bad now
