July 2011: "SG is still in buisness. Shop in CA was closed due to economy. Current owner of SG is an active member of the US military and was injured in a helicopter crash while overseas. He will be relocated to CA soon and SG will resume operations."

I guess "soon" is a relative term...

I shared a campsite with Casey Gray (owner of SG) during Rover Rendezvous last weekend. He is alive and well, and has a ton of stock on the shelf.

Casey is a good dude, and SG should be fully operational very soon.

There goes the value of my SG bumper! .

Don't know if there is a market for it, but someone should offer a well engineered and built bolt on suspension system. Not the offroad heavy 3link system of SGs golden days, the hard to procure systems from Italy, or the one size fits most from the R__ fabricators. Only if I knew how to weld pretty-like!

Well there goes my one reason to not build another red classic. Now that they are back I can build another stupid but fun classic RR.

That's the next step I suppose. He was sharing a ton of horror stories about past orders and the shady shit people were doing, like accepting delivery and then disputing charges on credit cards, people who would order product, have it delivered, and then say they want to return it all because their wife freaked out on how much money they spent, etc, etc.

He said that when he shut down last time he had more shady orders coming in than good ones, and it was running at a loss.

Hopefully Casey is able to get things back up and running and get product moving again!

I would do this if I didn't have to worry about litigation.

From what I understand, most of the Rover-specific fabricators are/have been struggling... Maybe with the ROW trucks steadily coming in, there will be a resurgence of the late 90's hayday.

True. Rover parts and/or fabrication will not make you rich.
