Rumors Ford will use Land Rover sourced diesels on 2009 F150

Pg. 25 - "This Just In" - 4-Wheel and Off-Road(June 2007):

"Insider's are also talking about the next-generation Ford F-150, due in 2009. Already we've heard rumors they'll be fitted with diesel engines sourced from Land Rover."

But, I thought the EPA wasn't a fan of LR diesels.......

I heard this samw rumor awhile back and dismissed it. That would be great if we could get an EPA approved LR diesel.

If it is true then it won't be any old school engines like the 300 Tdi. It would likely be the Ford Transit van diesel used in the current Defender and that is a fully computer controlled beasty that works with that 6 speed, etc. Meaning not such an easy conversion into a NAS Defender, but cool if you want all that computer stuff under the hood.
I still like simple.

Of course the Range Rover in overseas markets is now being sold with the new TdV8 instead of the older Td6. Computer controlled of course, but all reviews indicate it to be an excellent engine.
